We need YOU and your donations!

You have all been AWESOME!

Over the past few months...
Tim, I and the Wade family have been on a mission to send orphanage donations to Ethiopia.

With God's abundance YOU answered our plea for the orphans of KVI Orphanage
and together we have made a difference!
We are now getting word that the KVI babies are wearing our diapers!
No more ripped sheets held together with onesies,
 no more bleeding blistered bottoms!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
and from the bottom of their bottoms :)

  We are THRILLED,
but know there are MANY MANY more orphanages that need our perseverance!

Fellow adoptive friends are hand-carrying the donations to the children.
No middle man,
just great adoptive families giving up luggage space for donations.
We will do the same when we travel twice.
We hope to hand carry 400 lbs. of donations over the 2 trips.

Everything that you donated in the past has been shipped including over 2000 cloth diapers/covers.
SO...
You might think...
that's a good number of items, that should do it...

Well... in a country with 4.8 MILLION orphans that was a good start but we MUST continue.

Here we are again pleading on behalf of the children that can't help themselves.... asking for our generous friends to remember the Ethiopian orphans when you shop.

We need to restock...
We are calling on your generous hearts...
AGAIN!

We are asking you to please-
Grab an extra tube of diaper rash cream, or some wipes when you are at Wal-Mart, Dollar Store, or Target.  It doesn't take much as long as we are collectively working at this.  Then either throw them in the orphan collection bins at LFCC(church) or hand them, send them to us and we will make certain they get to an Ethiopian orphanage, and who knows maybe even used on our baby girl.

Here is the list of desperately NEEDED items:
Remember:
Many times the only way some of these orphanages will get supplies is through donations...and every little bit helps! Here are some of the things we would really like to bring-and many of these things are super easy and simple to buy and pack:

o Multivitamins
o Tri-vi-sol (o to 6 months)
o Poly-vi-sol (6 months to 2 years)
o Chewable multi-vitamin (2 years to 9 years)
o Adult multivitamin (9 years plus)
o
Tylenol (acetaminophen)
  ~Infants
  ~Children's
  ~Suppository
o Plastic disposable gloves
o Baby nose saline spray
o Neosporin
o Mouth and nose masks
o Benadryl liquid/elixir
o Permetherin for scabies
o Lice kits

o wipes
o cloth diapers
o plastic crib sheets
o plastic diaper covers
and good ol'cash~We are also hoping to bring money to buy formula, for the orphanages, once in country (it is the same cost and then we don't have to worry about packing it)

We LOVE you all and thank you for helping "the least of these".

  God bless you for caring!

Love,
Angi & Tim

Webit is doing well!

Prayers work!

For everyone that has been following Webit's story and praying for her ... we got another hopeful and optimistic update today!

For the details about Webit's story and her last minute rush to the hospital in Ethiopia, please click HERE.

Seven year-old Webit's health was rapidly deteriorating by the time she was able to get permission from the local Kebele (local government) to be treated at the hospital in Addis Ababa. Her family and the staff at the care-point were worried that it might be too late ... that the infection had perhaps gone too far and overwhelmed her fragile body.

Hundreds if not thousands of people throughout America and Ethiopia were praying for this little girl as she underwent surgery on a severe bone deformity in her leg that had been treated by the village shaman (traditional healer) which caused a severe infection to set in. Her older sister, was carrying her to the care-point on her back each day because the pain was so severe.
These 2 photos were taken the day before Webit was admitted to the hospital.
We had a team visiting the care-point, and Webit watched the activities from
her perch on a comfortable couch. She was in too much pain and feverish to take
part in the activities. She is sitting with Joey Austin (above) who showed her the
movie Madagascar on her iphone, which got a few giggles.
Webit is on the left and her older sister is on the right.

The surgery on her leg was sucessful and initial indications that it might be cancerous are now in question and we are waiting for the pathology report on June 2 to find out if she is completely healed, if the bone will continue to grow abnormally or if there was any sign of cancer. Please continue to pray for Webit as we await that doctor appointment and pathology report on June 2.

Here is the note we received today from our Children's HopeChest staff member in Ethiopia ...

This is kindly to give you an update on Webit’s health progress. Last Wednesday she had seen the doctor for checkup, and the doctor said that every thing is going well with her leg right now. The next appointment is on June 02, 2011. At that time they will see the results of pathological test to figure out whether the bone can grow again or if it is affected by cancer.

At the moment, Webit and her older sister, Beliyu, are living full-time at the care-point under the expert and loving attention of Simret (the care-point director) who is making sure that her surgical wounds are healing and staying clean. Those of you that have met Simret know that Webit is in very good hands! Please keep Webit and her family in your prayers and as soon as we have any information, I will post an update here.

8 months DTE today!

Today marks the 8th month since we sent our paperwork to Ethiopia. We thank God that we are "in the wait" and praise HIM for this journey to our daughter, Aerie Paige Cooper.

We are still number 3 for an infant girl 0-12 months old! ! !

The wait has been long... in some ways, and short in others.
This video and message has held me when I felt the ground moving beneath my feet.
I hope it gives you some strength too.

**remember to put the play list in the right column on mute before playing the video**

That's MY KING...do you know HIM?

You can be THE CHANGE...

An adoptive Mommy whose Blog we follow posted this story this week. It touched us so deeply we wanted to make sure you had the chance to read it too. We pray God breaks your heart for the orphan just as he has broken ours. To follow Amy's Blog you can go to www.buildingtheblocks.blogspot.com

Won't YOU be the CHANGE you wish to see the in world?

Praying you have a blessed Easter and that you take the opportunity to bless others in HIS name,
Angi & Tim

From Amy:
What if He meant YOU?
Sometimes, we find it easiest to look the other way.

Sometimes, we believe He isn't talking to us.

Sometimes, we figure someone else will do it.

Sometimes, we blow it off as someone elses responsibility.

But what if... God meant for you to do it?

As we were talking to someone the other day about support for our mission work we heard the all to common comment of 'go ask this church- or go ask that church'.

But what I sometimes think we forget is WE ARE THE CHURCH.

And often times we use the church as our excuse to not have to do what we are called as individuals to do.

We hide behind the title 'the church' and forget the church is made up of individual Christ followers who are all to do their own part.

Because after all, He is a personal God.

Personal to me- and personal to you.

While the church as a whole is powerful enough to knock out the orphan crisis- it's going to take all of us to do our part to make it happen- or it never will.

And yet all too often we sit and we wait...

For someone else to take care of the problem...

For someone else to give...

For someone else to serve...

For someone else to do something about it...

And we excuse ourselves of our individual responsibility.

When perhaps He was talking to us all along...

In the past I have talked a lot on my blog about our ties to money- and what the Lord has been teaching us. As we are raising funds for missions, more than ever before, our eyes are being opened to our cultures connection to the almighty dollar.

And more than ever before- I see how clearly it is the one thing that is bringing us, as a nation, down.

Our love for things...

and our love of self...

Over our love for Him.

I came across this picture the other day and I felt like someone punched me in the gut. I wondered how someone could just look the other way and go on without doing something to help?

But then it hit me..

Aren't we, in essence, doing this exact thing when we- choose that $6.00 latte over giving to missions?

When we choose to take a family vacation instead of giving our tithe?

Choose to have a pedicure over sponsoring a child in need?

Choose to look the other way as the homeless man sits on the corner begging for our help?

Choose a bigger house over adopting a child?

Choose to do nothing- when we could do something?

Choose not to respond.

Roman 14:12 tells us "Each of us will give an account of himself to God."

Belonging to a church isn't enough.

Each one of us, individually, are accountable to God for what we have done for the poor, the helpless, the widow and the orphan.

I once heard someone say the only thing worse than being lost- is being lost and knowing there is no one looking for you. As the body of Christ I believe the Lord is calling each one of us- as individuals- to open our eyes and LOOK. Look for the need and act.

Give.

Serve.

Love.

Take it personal-

Because He does.

Update on cloth diapers sent to Ethiopia

A fellow adoptive friend and Mom just returned home from Ethiopia. She and her husband met their son for the first time and while there they delivered orphange supplies we and the Wade's collected from our church (Linton First Christian Church) along with the cloth diapers donated and made by our friends! Look what you have done :)

From Katie
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say hello and tell you all how wonderful it was to finally
meet our son. We loved our time in Ethiopia and I actually extended my ticket to stay 5 extra days. It was so worth it to spend more time with our son. I wanted to let Angi know that we made the trip to Awassa and we dropped off all the cloth diapers and other donations to Shalom. The director was very thankful. It was the coolest trip and I HIGHLY recommend doing it if your child(ren) are from that area or even if they're not. It was so special to see that part of Ethiopia. Our son is not from Awassa but I loved seeing it anyway. We did the entire trip in one day. We left the guest house at 5:00am and arrived back just before dark. If you want more infomation about our trip you can email me. We loved our travel group each family was so special and now has such a special place in our hearts.
> We didn't pass court last Tuesday because we were missing our son's father's death certificate. It was faxed from the southern region orphanage to Duni (agency representative)this past Friday and she was going to resubmit it Monday morning. I talked to AWAA today and they said that the court was too busy and so they will take it again "tomorrow". We are praying for God's timing.
I'm excited for all the new referrals. I bet I saw your babies/kids cute faces last week. Such beautiful kids at the transition home.
Love,
Katie M.

Cooper friends- Please pray the court receives Katie's sons paperwork and that they get their Embassy appointment very SOON!

I dreamt of Aerie

Some of you know that back 1 1/2 years ago when Tim and I were trying to make a final decision as to which country to adopt from I had a dream/vision.
Call me crazy if you want...
but one night as soon as I lay down in bed and shut my eyes I stepped into a 3rd world classroom. It was dusty and dark, only a couple windows brought light into the room. I stepped into the room with a tall blonde woman. We were standing toward the back of the room, in the isle between two rows of hand hewn-desks. At each desk sat 3 children. On my right toward the front of the class was the girl we came to see. The guide beside me stated "There is your daughter... Aerie(s)". As she said this our daughter turned to look at me with recognition in her eyes. Immediately upon hearing Aerie/s I opened my eyes in my bed and cried. Up to this point I had prayed over and over that God would "show" us where our daughter was.
The next morning I told Tim "Our daughter is in Africa", to which Tim replied "well...let's get going". That day I contacted AWAA about their Ethiopia program. We began our journey to Aerie.
As a side note:
About 10 days after the dream/vision I typed "Aerie Africa" into Google. I had no idea if Aerie was a place, a name, or a thing. To my suprise an orphanage in Soddo, Ethiopia came up. When I looked at the web-site I knew it was confirmation that 10 days earlier God had shown us where to go and that signing up for Ethiopia was correct.
I also learned that an Aerie's meaning is "a safe haven, a place high of safety, where eagles or hawks nest". What a blessing to know Aerie is safe, in a haven.
(There is a video of Aerie, Africa in the video pane to the right)

God bless you on your journey. May God make clear our paths, Amen.
Love, Angi & Tim

Webit released. Pray she is "cancer free".

Monday, April 4, 2011
Update from Ethiopia (Webit)

We got an update today on Webit, the 7 year old little girl who had emergency surgery for a severe infection in her leg after treatment by the "traditional healer" in her village. Click HERE to read the full story. Here is the email we received from our Ethiopia Children's HopeChest staff.

Webit was released from the hospital on Friday and now she is living with Simret, the director and founder of Trees of Glory care-point. She is getting better and will see the doctor on April 13 for a checkup. She also has an appointment on June 2, to hear about the results of the laboratory test on her removed bone which specifies the possibility of cancer. Thanks for your continued prayer and support!

Simret manages the care-point and Webit is getting good care in her hands! Simret cares for the kids at TOG like they are her own. She loves them and when you see her interact with the kids, you cannot help but be awed by the capacity of her love and concern for these kids.

At the care-point, Webit will be getting outstanding care and hygiene for her surgical incisions, as well as prayer, healthy food and clean water. It's an environment that promotes healing at all levels - physical, emotional and spiritual.

Please keep Webit, her family, and the staff at Trees of Glory in your prayers as she continues to recover. And please pray for the results of the pathology labs too. As soon as we have an update on Webit or the pathology report, I will post to my blog. As of today, there is a little over $4000 in her medical fund (THANK YOU!!!!) and we will be notified of the final bill in the next week or so. If additional funds are needed, I will post here as well.

Karen
www.family-from-afar.blogspot.com

Please continue to keep Webit in your prayers. Pray the lab tests reveal "Cancer Free". We are praying God's healing for this little girl and for her family to become followers of Christ. All praise to our Father in Heaven for HIS mighty works in this childs life.

Patience...

When my niece Kayetlyn was little I would sing her this little song.
I find myself singing it to myself now :)

Be patient, be patient.
Don't be in such a hurry.
When you get impatient,
you only start to worry.
Remember, remember
that God is patient too,
and there are other times
when others will have to wait
for YOU!

Waiting... it's tough, but God will lead us through,
Angi (& Tim)

We are #3 ! ! !

We are #3 for a baby girl 0-12 months old!

We have been waiting for Aerie's referral for 7 months, 1 week, and 6 days!
Our paperwork went to Ethiopia on August 19, 2010.

We also received our official "On Deck" status from the adoption agency. The "On Deck" status means we can expect the referral for Aerie within 1-3 months!

We pray we will soon see the face of the child God has chosen for us before the creation of the world!

We are SO excited!

Want to know how we became #3 yesterday?
Well...Praise the Lord...
there were 7 referrals for 7 families yesterday! This means 7 children have been claimed, they are no longer orphans, and that 7 wonderful families are having the best weekend looking at the pictures of their children! Plus 4 families (including us) received their "On Deck" notification that we will soon receive our referrals! This has been a beauitful week, God showed up BIG again and blessed us.

Thank you Jesus for always loving us and the children of Ethiopia! You are our hope and our comfort, thank you for holding us while we wait for you. In Christ's Precious Name, Amen.

Love you all,
Angi & Tim
